Gallery of Pianetti Palace
City of art from the ancient protostoriche origins, was important Commune in the Middle Ages and later with the Lordships of Malatesta, Braccio da Montone and Francesco Sforza.
Jesi is situated over a hill on the flow of the Esino river. Back of Jesi, at the two sides of the valley, there are many small countries, so called "the Castles of Jesi" where the known Verdicchio wine called "Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi" is produced.
The emperor Federico II was born here as the musician Giovanni Baptiste Pergolesi. On the same valley in the country of Maiolati was born the musician Caspar Spontini.
What to see
The renaissance Palace of the Signoria (Lordship), Pianetti Palace, center of the civic paintings-gallery with paintings by Lorenzo Lotto, and the archaeological museum.
Moreover the church of S.Marco in gothic style with frescoes, the Pergolesi theatre, the walls of the year 1300 p.C. and the Cathedral of 18th century.
In Chiaravalle (10 km) can be visited the abbey of S.Maria in Castagnola, one of the most ancient constructions in gothic cistercenses style in Italy.
