Fermo
It is situated on a hill between the rivers Tenna and Ete. Once important under the Romans, it was the center of a "Marca" in the Middle Age.
Important and rich city of art, it has gothic, renaissance, baroque and neoclassic monuments.

Piazza del Popolo (15th 16th century), Palace of Priori (13th 16th century) that now is center of the paintings-gallery, Palace of the Studies (ancient university), that has an historical Library, Apostolic Palace, Azzolino Palace.
The civic paintings-gallery with the "Nativity" by Rubens, polyctic by Andrea da Bologna, and works by Crivelli.
The historical Library, with 400000 volumes, 600 incunabols, 180 codes and 15000 cinquecentine.
Piscine Romane: hydraulic work of Augustus imperator age.
Cathedral with parts from the 5th century till 19th century: Romanesque-gotic, inner structure of 1700-1800 and moreover gotiche churches of S. Francisco, S.Domenico, S.Agostino and the baroque S.Filippo.
Archaeological museum with Piceni and Roman bronzes. A lot interesting also the museum of the Arctic with relics of some historical shipments and Eskimo instruments and the contiguous ornithological museum.
10 km far from Fermo there is Torre di Palme, evocative small middle aged village on the rocks that dominate the sea.
