Palace of the Podestà and Fountain

The city is situated in a wide basin of the Marche mountains, it is very famous for the production of paper and for art masterpieces.
Fabriano was important for the painting of the renaissance having as greater exponent Gentile from Fabriano.
First town in Italy to produce paper (from the 12th century), the filigree was invented here.
Characteristic with monumental ancient palaces and the city center Fountain (1351).

What to see

All the historical center with Palace of the Podestà from 1255 with threefolds and battlements and the Cathedral, with architectonic redoing of the years 1300 till 1600 and with a beautiful cloister and with frescoes of the 1300 inside.
The museum of the paper and the filigree is very interesting, also because it is shown live how the paper was made once.
It is interesting also the paintings-gallery with collection of middle aged paintings and the Big Museum with several collections between which waxes, horrors and cinematographic inventions.
